After 16 years of providing valuable information on everything "cottage" to recreation lovers in Western Canada, Cottage magazine welcomes a familiar face to their mix of renovation experts. The editorial team is thrilled to announce Shell Busey, the HouseSmart Guy, as the voice to their new Question & Answer column. Shell Busey, host of the HouseSmart and Home Discovery shows, is one of Canada's leading professionals on home improvement.

With more than 40 years of experience under his (tool) belt, he continues to deliver the how to, what to, where to, why to, when to and who to - on home improvement. Editor, Desiree Daniel, believes Busey is an important contributor for Cottage readers. "We focus a lot on building cottages in our magazine, but many of our readers are beyond that stage. It's now the everyday things that they need help with like removing old carpet or painting ceramic tiles in the bathroom.

Introducing this Q & A column is an outlet for our audience and lets them be a part of the conversation. Sometimes it's assisting with the little things that make the big difference." The HouseSmart Referral Network, created by Busey with bases across Western Canada, is a service to help homeowners find qualified and reliable trades people and suppliers for their home improvement projects. Michael Gibson, Busey's General Manager of the HouseSmart Referral Network, says Busey is excited to now offer more specific information to people who have recreational property."We have built a strong network of referrals for people who are renovating or building their homes. Shell is looking forward to offering cottagers and people who have recreational needs, more detailed information." Busey began his work in Owen Sound, Ontario. He came to BC in the early 70's and in 1977 Busey purchased a Windsor Plywood franchise in North Delta. This was later converted to the Build-It-Centre and associated with the Tim-Br-Mart buying group.

However it wasn't until a decade later, when radio and TV stations approached Busey to talk about building supplies on air, that his public voice started to gain massive recognition. Cottage, published seven times a year is the largest circulated cottage publication in Western Canada. With entertaining and informative information on recreational living, do-it-yourself projects, cabin planning, investment, real estate advice and more, Cottage continues to deliver cottagers everything they need to know for their recreational home experience.
